Oh my gosh that lady sounds wild! I admire your ability to see the situation with compassion. I wonder if she had a bad day and was taking it out on you. I always struggle with these situations because on one level, it’s good to diffuse situations, but sometimes in the past I’ve let too much go and it makes me feel angry at myself. I guess maybe it’s context dependent. Your suggestions to disarm that energy with warmth are powerful reminders that we have so much ability to not only control our responses, but also influence the actions of others. side note, I really enjoyed the structure of this article! I’ve been thinking a lot about how to organize my blogs, and this one offered a lot of inspiration in that regard.

I had a friend who was always angry about something. I am an upbeat person and her anger and complaining was not good for me. When she started being mean to me in little sneaky ways, I decided to not be friends with her anymore. I have felt better and had a lot more energy since I let her go.
