Aloha Lovelies,
A few days ago, I was flipping through my previous journals, looking for a specific entry. During the process, I found an Abundance List I created on July 15, 2018.
I believe the mind is powerful. But I don’t believe in the Law of Attraction. I especially dislike movies like The Secret: Dare to Dream, which was all about getting the beautiful guy, the palatial home, and a pony for your daughter to boot.
A good life is about so much more than money and material possessions. And the idea that you can create anything you want through your thoughts is too simplistic for me.
But back in 2018, one of my friends who does believe in the Law of Attraction, suggested writing an abundance list. So, I gave it a go.
I found writing the abundance list made me a smile and uplifted my energy. It still makes me smile when I read it today. But most importantly, writing the list gave me clarity about what’s important to me.
For both those reasons, you might want to consider writing one yourself.
This is what I wrote:
My Abundance List - July 15, 2018
I give myself permission to have everything I desire.
I give myself permission to:
To live in a quiet, safe, sunny place with space and nature, near to my friends and in a good spot for the kitties.
To own a home again in one of my ideal spots.
To constantly inspire and help my readers and steadily grow my community.
To allow opportunities to come my way without stress or hassle on my part.
To participate in retreats and programs that nourish me.
To study and meditate regularly.
To finish my courses and books and launch them.
To make the income I need to live comfortably without it stressing me out.
To get acupuncture, bodywork, or massage as needed.
To be surrounded by a circle of close friends.
To really slow down.
To not worry about money.
To help others.
The word “abundance” is typically associated with a large quantity, wealth, affluence, and plentifulness.
My abundance list, however, was more about comfort than a large quantity.
I had just lost my home during the lava eruption. So, I wanted to own a home again. Owning one is a rare privilege in this world. But I neede the stability and security a home provides. It keeps my stress level down and my health stable and my cats secure too.
But the home I own is 864 square feet not a palace. It’s my palace not because it’s big but because I’m so immensely grateful for it. The goodness of something depends, to a great degree, on how we perceive it not how big it is.
My abundance list revealed my personal priorities, which primarily revolved around a peaceful, quiet, and comfortable life. And interestingly, I now have almost everything on that list. Eventually, I decided not to pursue creating books and courses because I need to do less not more.
Is it time to redefine the word “abundance?” Our pursuit of abundance in the form of too much has led to climate catastrophe and perhaps the end of our species in the not too distant future.
I wish for everyone to have what they need and a little more so they feel comfortable. But no one needs too much.
Writing an abundance list can still be a worthwhile exercise. It can show you how you define abundance and reveal what’s truly important to you in the short time you have on this earth.
Will you give it a try?
P. S. I don’t mean to offend anyone who believes in the Law of Attraction. Some of my best friends do. It’s okay if we have different opinions.

Thank you Sandra....your abundance list really "nailed it for me". You have inspired and grounded me in what "abundance" looks like. Now on to do my list! Virtual hugs. Stay safe.
You have inspired me to create an abundance list, Sandra. I am like you in that I want peace and beauty and comfort and, if possible in this world, security. Good food is important to me but I realize that many are not even getting the basics so I will not be too picky :). I have a small house as well, and need to go through it and get rid of things that no longer make me happy to be with them or that are no longer useful. I am going to do that this weekend at the studio in order to be able to be more creative. Clutter and creativity are not good bedfellows :)
