According to a study conducted by Dr. William H. Frey II, a biochemist and director of the Psychiatry Research Laboratories at the St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Centre, emotional tears contain stress-related hormones: prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and leucine enkephalin (a natural painkiller).
