I had a vaguely similar experience of what I thought was the loss of everything, it’s taken a while for me to realise I always had and do have me and I am the most important part of my life because without me there is nothing….keep strong x

Sandra, I appreciate how these messages arose spontaneously. That feels important and powerful. Sometimes, if I'm not quite "there" yet, the 'I am feels' untrue in my body. I may get there, but until I see your alternatives as helpful.

Paulette, thank you! Those are such excellent insights and explain why I was resistant to the “I am” format. The phrases did arise spontaneously. Once the first came, the others flowed immediately after. I just listened and wrote them down. They’re not fancy or elegant, but they were the words I needed to make it through those emotionally turbulent times. As always, I appreciate your support.

You're so welcome, Sandra. I love not fancy and elegant - yet, truly, coming from your higher wisdom they are.

Thanks for sharing your list Sandra and for including the I am version. Like you I wrote and used phrases like this when I lost everything was rebuilding.

They may not seem helpful at first to someone who is struggling but I encourage anyone to try!

Tracy, Thanks for sharing your experience with writing your phases and how it was helpful for you. I felt devastated and desperate. Writing these phases didn't magically change everything, but they gave me that little extra bit of courage and perspective I needed to keep going. Thanks for your support!

These are so lovely, Sandra. Their simplicity makes them easy to put into use. (I have a hard time remembering long affirmations and then I get frustrated and don't use them.) Thank you!

The words we use hold power, and using them to reframe fearful thoughts and feelings is such an important use of them. Thank you for the wonderful list, Sandra!

You know, reading your list, I chuckled a bit at myself.

There have been days when I needed to recite "I'll be okay" not once, not twice, but what felt like a hundred times. It was like trying to convince a stubborn toddler, but the toddler was my own anxious brain. And sometimes? It worked! Or, at least, it kept me from spiraling completely.

I think there’s something almost comical about how our minds can get the best of us, and how a few simple words can be our goofy, yet effective, way of wrestling control back. It’s like tricking our inner critic with kindness.

I love that you share the "I am" format, too. It’s like letting us choose the flavor of our affirmation. Some days I need the directness of "I am strong," other days I need the gentler "I'll feel better in time." It’s all so wonderfully human.

Alex, I'm inspired to know that positive words have made a difference for you sometimes. I know they won't always work on their own if we're in a highly anxious state, which I've been contending with recently.

My Virgo mind can get the best of me, as you say, automatically creating worst-case scenarios before I'm barely conscious of what's happening. Soothing myself with positive statements has been helpful to me, and it's especially wonderful when they come spontaneously, as these did. They were a lifeline when I was slapped with such significant changes.

I appreciate how tuned you are to your inner self, knowing that sometimes you need a more direct statement and sometimes a gentler one. Thanks for sharing your personal experience.
